I am a M.S. Candidate in Biological and Environmental Science with a specialization in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems at the University of Rhode Island. I will be graduating in May 2018 and hope to pursue a career in the environmental sector.

Research Assistant

​2016 - present

 

I am currently performing lab work as it relates to my thesis research on lobster shell disease and probiotics treatments. I have designed probiotic screening assays on larval lobsters and am conducting long-term experiments with diseased adult lobsters to test the efficacy of a novel treatment for fisheries application.

 

 

Science Writing Fellow

​2016 - present

 

​Last fall, I was awarded the NSF-funded SciWrite@URI Graduate Student Fellowship. Through this fellowship, I am trained in science communication for broad audiences by using a rhetorical approach and practicing habitual writing. I have taken multiple science communication courses, participated in various workshops, and completed a science writing internship with the Metcalf Institute at URI.

 

Teaching Assistant

I have been a graduate teaching assistant for Introduction to Biology and Marine Biology at URI. As a TA, I helped design curricula, administered lectures, ran laboratory activities, held office hours, and took students on field trips to remote locations.
